Check the Weather Forecast

I just spent a good 30 minutes typing what I thought would be a great "return to blogging" post and just realized it would put everybody to sleep. And now I think I realize why I haven't been posting. I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY! After 14 months, I still have not made any effort to pick up the phone and go pick up my camera after leaving it in Dietrich over a year ago, so I don't have any fun pictures to post. And without pictures I simply cannot be exciting. I could tell you about the evening we spent at Lucky Peak on our friends, the Clayton's, boat, but words would not do the trick. Or maybe they could. I told them this would be one evening I would never forget, but I can't remember a darn thing these days, so maybe I should write it down. Who's gonna read my blog anyway? It's been inactive for over 5 months, so I'm sure nobody checks it. This is now my family journal. Read at your own risk.

At 10am this morning (roughly 2 minutes after I rolled out of bed), Jaymie and I decided we'd go take their boat for a spin on the lake this evening. The planner in me got excited! I had a few hours to start preparing. The OCD surfaced and I started making a list. Food, towels, sunscreen, etc. I get everything ready, and we head out the door only about 15 minutes late (really good for us - luckily all our friends know we're always late to everything). We make it to Lucky Peak and the boat won't start. Looking back maybe it was a sign, but one flip of a switch several minutes later, and we were out to find a dock to start roasting hot dogs at. The kids played in the sand and we ate hot dogs and other food not worthy of mentioning. Then we got on the boat to start our wakeboarding/waterskiing/tubing. Looks like it might start raining, but it's been hot and cloudy all day, so there was really no cause for concern. We get Spense in the water and after a few tries, he's up on the wakeboard. And then we see it. Lightening. No, that couldn't have been lightening. Minutes later, it strikes again. So we decide we better head back to our dock. Maybe we'll roast marshmallows while it passes. Um, not gonna be the case. It starts raining and we make it back to the dock in time to pack up our stuff and take cover under towels and blankets in the boat as large rain drops pelt us. The lightening is crazy. I figure we're all gonna die. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. And yes, we are the only ones on the lake. And it takes FOREVER to get back to shore. We can't see through the rain, and dang it, those big rain drops hurt. But we finally make it back safe and sound. And the moral of the story is - check the weather forecast. I'm a planner. I know these things. Good story, huh? Guess you had to be there. And now I realize why my husband thinks I'm boring...

And now I'll go to bed. More boring stories to come in, oh, about 5 months. Don't hold your breath.

Surprise, Surprise!

I bet you thought you wouldn't see a post from me until after April 15th, but I thought I'd surprise everybody with a quick post and pictures. We celebrated Brooklyn's 4th birthday last Wednesday with cupcakes and ice cream. Here's a picture of the birthday girl with her cupcakes:

As everybody was getting ready to go home, Spenser asked Brooklyn if she had gotten all she wanted. She broke down crying - not a mad cry, but a genuine sad cry, and came and climbed into my lap because she had asked for a baby but didn't get one. She got a Tinkerbell doll, but it wasn't a babydoll. After much consoling and a little genius on my part, Tinkerbell turned into the babydoll she wanted:

Will update more later. I guess it's been so long that I forgot how to do this! I tried to get pictures off the camera and thought my usb port wasn't working, so I searched online for 15 minutes to see if I could get some troubleshooting tips when alas, I remembered you had to turn on the camera to get the pics! So this task has taken me longer than planned! Expect a post in about 6 weeks...

This is for you, Mom...

and the rest of my friends that have mentioned that my blog hasn't been updated for quite some time. I'm sorry! I am very aware that I have not updated my blog since November. If I could get the pictures off my computer to post here, and also find 2 seconds of spare time to write, I would, I promise! I've got Brooklyn's first "real" haircut and color (purple) to post, as well as Christmas pictures, which nobody will probably care about now. I just don't have the time! Right now I'm skipping lunch so I can "update" my blog, and I have a client waiting in the waiting room. Please forgive.

The 2 second update is that I am working about 15 hours a day, 6 days a week doing taxes and managing the tax business, and Spense is watching the kids and trying to join the Utah National Guard Special Forces Unit. Spense is turning 30 in less than a week, and I don't even have anything special planned for him - I'm a bad wife! Brooklyn will be 4 in about a month, and then Isaiah will be 3 a month later. They are both doing fabulous, and crack me up (and drive me crazy at the same time). So, nothing has changed there. I'll try, try, try, to update around their birthdays with pics of their cute little faces!

Otherwise, I'll post again on April 16th.

Love you all!

Obama For Change?

Anybody else disappointed with the outcome of the presidential election, although we knew it was coming? Obama said, "I was never the likeliest candidate for this office." Really? Who voted for him because he was African American? And because he's a suave speaker? I fear what our country has in store. And after 14 hours of working at the election polls, I'm disappointed to come home to find out the fate of our country. Yes, Obama will give us change. But is it really the change we are looking for? Pray for our new leaders! Please!

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold.

Halloween Was Only a Few Days Ago...

Gosh! I know I'm a little behind, but that's how things are going for me and my family. We went to Boo at the Zoo, and I swore I would take pictures, but I didn't. We went trick-or-treating, and I swore I'd take pictures, but I didn't. We carved pumpkins, and at least I got a picture of the finished, lighted product. And the kids put their costumes back on one day for me to take a picture to post. So here for your viewing enjoyment, two whole pictures!

Tag

I was tagged to do this: What you do is open up your "my pictures" folder, go to the 4th folder, and find the 4th picture in that folder and post it. So, here it is ladies (99% chance you're female if you're reading a blog, right?)

This pic is of Spenser's motorcycle. He bought it a little over a year ago, and it had been wrecked. He spent many hours in the garage fixing it and putting on the new fairings, and this is one of the pictures of the final result of all his hard work, if I remember correctly. It's a replica of Nicky Hayden's, who is a Moto GP racer.

I tag: Mattie, Melissa, Sherri & Cate - have fun!
